Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy outlines how Centaur ("Centaur," "we," "us") processes your personal data when you use our website and Centaur products. Centaur is the trading name of CHRONOS LABS PTE. LTD., a company incorporated in the Republic of Singapore, which is the data controller for the processing activities described herein. This policy is designed to help you understand what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

This policy covers two groups of people. First, users of the Centaur website, the Centaur Bot and the Centaur Web Platform. Second, Traders — third-party authors of publicly available content that Centaur collects, aggregates and analyses, who are not Centaur users and who have not registered with us. If you are a Trader, Section 1.5 explains what we process and how to object or request removal.

Centaur is the data controller for the processing described in this policy. You can contact us about this policy, or about your data, at support@centaur.io.

Our full legal and postal details are:

1. Purpose and Legal Basis for the Data We Collect

Centaur collects personal data to operate and improve our services, analyze usage, provide support, and send relevant updates. "Personal Data" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. All data processing is conducted in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1.1. Providing the Centaur Product

When you use the Centaur product, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Password, which we store only in hashed form
  • Telegram username, where you interact with our Telegram bot
  • IP address
  • Web browser and device details
  • Navigation activity on centaur.io or related domains

We process this data to:

  • Create and authenticate your account
  • Provide access to the Centaur Bot and the Centaur Web Platform
  • Contact you with relevant updates or changes to this Privacy Policy or other agreements

Note: Due to the public and social nature of the platform, any trading activity or data you choose to make public will be viewable by others. Please refer to our Terms of Use for more information.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract.

1.2. Website and Product Improvement

We use analytics tools (currently PostHog) to collect:

  • Email address (if submitted via form)
  • IP address
  • Browser and location data
  • Navigation patterns on centaur.io or related domains

This helps us:

  • Analyze user behavior
  • Optimize platform performance
  • Improve the design and user experience

We use this data primarily in aggregate. Where analytics data is associated with an identifiable person, we process it on the legal basis set out below, and you may object to that processing at any time by contacting support@centaur.io.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest in improving our services.

1.3. Troubleshooting and Support

If you contact us for help, we may collect:

  • Name (if provided)
  • Email address
  • IP address
  • Navigation and usage logs

This information is used strictly to respond to support requests or diagnose issues.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract.

1.4. Direct Marketing and Product Updates

If you opt in to receive updates, we may use your:

  • Email address
  • Telegram username
  • Website interaction data

This data is used to send updates on new features or Centaur-related marketing.

You can opt out at any time by emailing: support@centaur.io

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

1.5. Trader and Source Platform Data

Centaur collects and processes personal data relating to third-party authors of publicly available content (“Traders”), who are not Centaur users and who have not registered with us. We collect this data from public sources, currently Telegram channels and groups, and public accounts on X (formerly Twitter), which we access exclusively through the official X API.

For each Trader we may collect and process:

  • Account identifiers, including username or handle and platform account ID
  • Display name and profile image
  • Publicly available audience metrics, such as follower count
  • The text, timestamps, links and attachments of publicly posted content
  • Data we derive from that content, including classified trade events, positions, performance statistics and rankings

We process this data to operate the Centaur product: to identify and classify publicly posted trading commentary, to generate performance statistics and comparative rankings, to provide source transparency so that users can audit our outputs, and to make this information available to users and to business partners who access Centaur data under a written agreement.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests. Our legitimate interest is in operating a market-information service that aggregates publicly available commentary. We have weighed that interest against the rights and freedoms of Traders, taking into account that the content was published publicly by its author, that we do not collect content that is private or access-restricted, and that we provide a route to object and to request removal.

Because we do not obtain this data from Traders directly, we rely on Article 14(5)(b) GDPR where providing individual notice to each Trader would involve disproportionate effort. This policy serves as that notice.

If you are a Trader, you may object to our processing, or request access, correction or removal, at any time by contacting support@centaur.io. Where you object, we will cease processing your data and remove you from the product unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests. Where we accept a removal request, we will also notify business partners who have received your data.

1.6. Automated Classification and Rankings

Centaur uses automated systems, including proprietary machine learning models, to analyse publicly posted content, to infer structured trading activity from it, and to generate performance statistics and comparative rankings of Traders. These outputs are estimates. They are not audited, are not confirmed with any Trader, and may be incomplete or inaccurate.

These automated processes do not produce legal effects concerning any individual, and are not used to make decisions about access to services, credit, employment, or any similar matter. If you believe information we have generated about you is inaccurate, you may request correction or removal at support@centaur.io.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests, as described in Section 1.5.

1.7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our analytics provider use cookies and similar technologies on centaur.io to operate the site, maintain your session, and understand how the site is used. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to function. Analytics cookies are optional and, where required by applicable law, are set only with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests, for strictly necessary cookies; Article 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent, for optional analytics cookies.

2. Retention Period

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.

  • Account data: for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after closure to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • Trader Data: for as long as it remains relevant to the statistics and rankings we publish, and thereafter in accordance with any removal request we accept.
  • Analytics data: in line with the retention settings of our analytics provider.

You can request deletion of your data or your account at any time by contacting support@centaur.io.

3. Information Sharing

Centaur does not sell your personal data. We share personal data only as described below:

  • When legally required (e.g. court order, regulatory request)
  • With data processors we use to provide services to you
  • With business partners who access Centaur data under a written agreement. This may include Trader Data as described in Section 1.5. It does not include the account credentials of Centaur users.

We use the following processors and third parties:

  • Stripe (for payments) — hosted in the U.S. with Singapore Standard Contractual Clauses
  • Telegram — to deliver bot messages and notifications, and as a Source Platform
  • X Corp. — as a Source Platform, accessed exclusively via the official X API
  • PostHog — product and website analytics

Our processors are bound by confidentiality and data protection agreements. Business partners who receive Trader Data act as independent controllers in respect of their own use of that data, and their processing is governed by their own privacy notices and by the terms of their agreement with Centaur.

3.1. International Transfers

Centaur and several of the third parties named above operate outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Singapore, we rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, or on another lawful basis for the transfer. You may request further information about the safeguards that apply by contacting support@centaur.io.

4. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Request data portability (structured, machine-readable format)
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including, if you are a Trader, to the processing described in Sections 1.5 and 1.6

To exercise your rights, contact us at: support@centaur.io

If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you may file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If significant changes are made, we will notify you via email or on our website. Continued use of the Centaur product after any updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
